Olympus E-P1 Pen Series - Micro Four Thirds Ultra Compact Camera

There are many photographers were new to the digital photography field. Even some amateur photographers haven't become familiar with Olympus Pen camera series. The first generation of Olympus Pen camera appeared in 1959. Olympus has sold over 17 million cameras from the pan serious. The second-generation of Pen series called Olympus PenEE was announced in 1961, off the that came the Olympus PenEES (1962), Olympus PenD (1962),PenF (1963), PenEM (1965), and PenFT (1966) camera. These half-frame format cameras were very successful and sold very well.


Olympus Pen EP-1 (2009) - Ultra-Compact Micro Four-Thirds Format


Now Olympus wants to revive the success of the PEN series, using the new 'digital pen' camera called Olympus E-P1. In older to allow Olympus E-P1 to achieve high quality images and even record high definition quality movies in such an ultra compact device, Olympus implemented its latest technology is in order to allow it to take high-quality images and movies.

The E-P1 is a Micro Four Thirds format camera, which accepts the Four Thirds format ZUIKO lenses. Of course being a micro 4/3 camera, it is compatible with all Micro Four Thirds lenses, and can even use all Macro Four Thirds lenses with a special adapter. Olympus Pen E-P1 as a 12.3 megapixel live MOS sensor and with a TruePic V image processor, to allow it to achieve its high-quality images.

EP-1's 3 inch LCD

As we said before, E-P1 is able to capture HD high resolution videos at 30 frames per second in both 4:3 and 16:9 (wide screen) aspect ratios, and it's HDMI compatible. It's using a stereo microphone built in into the EP-1 camera for high quality stereo sound. EP-1 allows the photographer to take images in 3fps, and capture it on SD memory cards, and it's SDHC compatible.

Olympus as incorporates many technologies in today's tiny camera body. E-P1 has in body image stabilization system compensates for up to four shutter speed steps. E-P1 Pen camera uses supersonic wave filter to remove dust away from the sensor and keep images clean without dust spots. E-P1 has a 3 inch Hyper-Crytal LCD on its back.

Olympus E-P1 takes DSLR high-quality images in an ultra-compact camera, which you can take everywhere. It's already won that EISA Award for the best product of 2009-2010 and even got a highly recommended rank by dpreview.com.
