Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D VR Lens Reviews

Today I thought about pretty more about the Nikon AF VR Zoom-Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED lens, because there really love to shoot animals on the zoo, and I wanted a telephoto zoom lens from Nikon that can deliver high-quality images, have alone focal range, and lenses will be quite affordable. The Nikon  80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED lens has gotten some mixed reviews on the Internet, some editors of love this lens and the other didn't. So let's see how good the Nikon 80-400mm is.

Ken Rockwell

Starting with Ken Rockwell Nikon 80-400mm VR review, we can see that Ken Rockwell loved this lens, but it tells us not to use this Nikon 80-400mm VR lens. All photography or shooting moving subjects. Ken Rockwell is saying this because the Nikon 80-400mm VR auto focus is very slow, and it limits the photographer on the field when shooting sports photography or fast moving subjects. You can compare this lens to the Canon's 100-400mm VR lens, which did both cost about the same price. Even though the Nikon 80-400mm is smaller, lighter and also has a wider zoom range. So actually if you are on a short budget, and you want a high focal range telephoto zoom lens from Nikon, which is also small and affordable, maybe the only choice will be the Nikon 80-400mm telephoto zoom lens.

SLR Gear

Okay let's continue to the SLR gear.com website to read about the results which posted by SLR gear editors and their user reviews about the Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED AF VR Nikkor lens. This lens was released by Nikon on the year 2000. As far as I remember the sees the first lens that incorporated an image stabilization (VR). The is a popular long zoom lens which allows you to take hand held pictures of long telephoto exposures. This is a pretty sharp lens wide open, and it has a nice uniformity across the focal plane. The distortion is also quite low but the image focusing is pretty slow. Of course many photographers with love and enjoy the image stabilization feature in the Nikon 80-400mm VR lens. The build quality is also very good, and it is very rugged, easy to carry around and it has a huge hood for preventing glare. This is what's called "a great walking around lens". If you are in a trip to Africa, for example, and you want to shoot pictures of animals in the zoo, this lens is a great fun and can produce high-quality images when used probably.
