Ricoh GXR Smallest Interchangeable Lenses Camera - Preview

If you were searching to buy a new compact DSLR camera because he didn't like large size of enthusiasts DSLR cameras, maybe you should consider buying Ricoh brand-new GXR interchangeable lens camera. However, we have a surprise for you, Ricoh GXR is not the typical interchangeable lenses DSLR. Ricoh GXR is a small digital camera body, which can accept different modules, which every one of them includes a different sensor and the lens in the same module. That means that when you buy a new lens to fit into your Ricoh GXR camera, you're actually buying a lens and the CCD at the same purchase.

It is actually the smallest interchangeable lens camera into the world, even smaller than Olympus smallest 4/3 SLR camera. So you actually buying the Ricoh GXR body separately and then add different modules to fit your style of photography. The actual body itself is made with strong magnesium, like more expensive DSLR cameras on the market today. The body of the RICOH GXR is actually the main computer heart of the camera itself, including a three each LCD screen at the back of the camera with high resolution and the ability to show all sRGB colors, shutter button, memory card slots, hot-shoe for the flash or the electronic viewfinder that you can buy separately etc.

Advantages of Using RICOH GXR Camera?
As you can see this is a completely different type of camera in comparison to anything we have seen yet. So what are the advantages of using Ricoh GXR interchangeable lens camera?

First of all, the camera itself is very small, like a pocket camera or consumer size camera, which you can take everywhere with you. Compare it to the second smallest DSLR, the differences in size are very noticeable. The Ricoh GXR is the only interchangeable lenses' camera which you can put in your pocket and take it everywhere with you, simply is that.

The second advantage is about the optical quality of the lenses in integration with a dedicated CCD. When both the lens and the CCD come together, Ricoh can optimize the integration of both devices, in order to provide a much higher image quality in comparison to what we have today. For example, if you want to use a telephoto zoom lens, you can just plug in a very small Ricoh GXR telephoto zoom module. The reason the telephoto zoom lens is much smaller, it's because Ricoh has  implemented a smaller dedicated CCD sensor, in order to provide a smaller footprint, so you can carry your telephoto zoom camera everywhere you go. If you want to shoot macro photographs, you can use their Ricoh GXR 50mm macro lens module, which has a larger CCD sensor, but the lens itself maintains its small size in comparison to telephoto zoom lenses with a larger CCD.

Ricoh GXR has many kinds of accessories that you can attach to the Ricoh GXR interchangeable lens camera. For example, you can use Ricoh GXR and electronic viewfinder, which is rotatable and can be attached to Ricoh GXR hot shoe connector on the top of the camera. Furthermore, you can attach Ricoh flash and therefore, have stronger lighting capabilities, in comparison to the building flash that the camera has.

The third advantage of using Ricoh GXR camera (of course there are many more), is that you don't have to worry about dust entering the sensor and producing dark spots on your photographs. Because the sensor and the lens our one closed unique, dust cannot enter the unit itself. Dust is a probably a major problem for regular interchangeable lenses (SLR) cameras.

There are many other options to discover into Ricoh GXR camera, some of them are: multi-pattern auto white balance, up to 3200 ISO sensitivity and many more.

Ricoh GXR will probably be a hit. As far as the specifications, it seems like a very capable camera, which can produce very high quality images. Ricoh can optimize almost every aspect, which is related to the CCD itself with the integration of the specific lens. I was reading the hands-on review about that Ricoh GXR camera on dpreview and even watched the sample images taken with the test Ricoh GXR model, and it seems the quality is very high indeed.
