Sports Photographer Choose Canon - Why?

Canon Gear For Sports Photography?
This blog post is supposed to continue the previous discussion (why wide life photographers choose Nikon) but in another aspect. The question that I want to ask today is "why professional sports photographers choose to purchase Canon photographic equipment instead of Nikon equipment?". I don't have a specific answer for that and that's the reason I want to get your answers. What they do know, is that Canon has some great DSLR cameras for sports photography and some very good to excellent professional telephoto zoom lenses and prime lenses to shoot fast-moving objects, like soccer game.

However, as you know, Nikon also has some great telephoto zoom lenses for professional sports photographers who want to shoot fast-moving objects, so what's the difference between them. I can think of one reason for that, maybe Canon gives a discount for some organizations and companies, which purchase their professional photographic equipment and Nikon is not. This is only one way of thinking, economically.

The other reason that came into my mind is that Canon has more affordable professional telephoto zoom lenses and prime telephoto lenses, which fits the sports photographers' budget.

For example, if I were to choose a professional 70-200mm lens, I have several options to choose, from either companies. Going to the telephoto prime lenses, I think that Canon has some kind of advantage over Nikon and this respect. I'm really not the professional photographer or professional sports photographer to give you that specific answer. Even there are any professional sports photographers among you, please share your experience and knowledge and tell us, why have you decided to buy Canon's equipment instead of Nikon's DSLR cameras and lenses?
