Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera - Full HD 1080p Movies & EXPEED 2

After many rumors and speculations, Nikon has announced the Nikon D3100 DSLR camera. This is an entry-level Nikon camera. Many photographers will probably be very glad to hear, that this is the first Nikon DSLR to offer full HD 1080p videos. The Nikon D3100 will replace the popular D3000 camera. So what's new and excited do we have in this little pretty?

The Nikon D3100 features a brand new DX-format 14.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor. I must admit, I didn't expect that the camera will have such a high pixel density. Nerveless, with the Nikon D3100 you can shoot images at basic 100 ISO, up to 3200 ISO (expandable modes up to 12800 are available). On the back you can find the 3.0" LCD screen. Nikon has implemented its new EXPEED 2 image processing chip, that really boosts the performance of movie recording and image quality.

But all the photographers and reviewers eyes will be pointed towards the movie function. With its D-Movie feature, the Nikon D3100 enables photographers to shoot 1080p HD movies in 1920x1080 resolution, and at 24fps. Of course many new question arises: "Does the video quality was improved compared to the Nikon D90?", "How does the video quality of the Nikon D3100 compares to Canon's?". Well, we will have to wait fir the review to find out, wouldn't we?

I am also happy to see that Nikon has integrated the Active D-Lighting feature in Nikon D3100. This is very usable feature for both amateur and professional photographers. It allows you to take high quality and even tones pictures, when you shoot in high contrast and difficult lighting conditions. It seems that many popular features are now becoming more common between the upper models and the lower ones. All I can think about is what is expecting us with the replacement of the Nikon D90?

For new DSLR photographers, features like dust reduction, easy User Interface (menus & navigation), full HD movie recording and Active D-lighting, all are very welcomed. It seems that Nikon has done it again with the Nikon D3100.  It utilizes some of its latest technologies to create a compact DSLR camera, with all the bells & whistles. When you buy the Nikon D3100 KIT, a AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens will be included.

The price stands on €599 as for the day of the announcement of the new Nikon D3100. I am sure that the new Nikon D3100 Digital SLR, will become very popular among photographers who want to buy their first DSLR camera. The Nikon D3100 digital SLR suppose to be ready for sell on September 18th, 2010.
