Possibility of New MILC from Canon by 2012

Reuters posted an article, saying that Canon might release a mirrorless camera in 2012 due to the restoration of camera production facilities in Japan. Reuters used the term "the possibility.." when it brought up the subject. In fact, Canon has no other choice but entering the ILC business, and hopefully for Canon that it will do it soon. Some concerns have been brought up saying that ILC can actually hurt Canon sells in the DSLR segment.

I think that if Canon won't enter this market it has a lot of markets share to lose. I guess that Canon is already in the making of such mirrorless cameras. I think that Canon will have an advantage over other companies, because branding.  Some analysts call this a risk, some have mentioned that both Canon and Nikon will have no choice has the MILC market segment continues to grow and bite Canon and Nikon's DSLR market share. Others mentioned the fact that Canon manufacturing facilities just can't hold the mass production of such cameras due to Japan's production facilities disaster from the tsunami last year.

Maybe Reuters knows things that we don't know, but the fact that we here some hints for new Canon mirrorless cameras just tells us that Canon hasn't said it's its final word just yet.
