After browsing on various blogs and forums posts, I came a to (probably a fast conclusion) that many people aren't in favor of the size of the new FujiFilm X-Pro1. The X-Pro1 is FujiFilm's first mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. It certainly put FujiFilm back on track, and it will have to compete against many other cameras in the CSC category.
The FujiFilm X-Pro1 is not a compact camera at all. Just view this comparison that compares the X-Pro1 vs Sony NEX-C3 and you can see what I mean. Considering the fact the bot utilize an APS-C size sensor, it's hard to understand why FujiFilm has decided to use such a large body. Maybe they didn't have a choice, or maybe they just thought it would be better this way.
In terms of ergonomics, no doubt that with larger and heavier lenses, the X-Pro1 will be more comfortable to hold, especially for those with large hands. However, the all idea about CSC is the size. Of course if you just mount a super-zoom lens, you lose the compactness advantage, but with pancake lenses and small normal zoom lenses, the camera is still very compact.
What do you think, a deal breaker, or a great advantage?

Just the perfect size for the targeted public
ReplyDeletePut any lens on the Sony and it looses its advantage.
Please compare with another camera that has an integrated flash & view finder. The C3 has neither of these features.
